Program Overview

The EmeraldPlanet TV are hosting three international experts on EcoVillages.  EcoVillages are creating and adopting new EcoSystem innovations.  These are intentional communities, sometimes called “Conscious Communities” with goals to become more socially, economically, and ecologically sustainable. Experts in the movement state that EcoVillagers are united by shared ecological, social-economic, and cultural-spiritual values. Concretely, EcoVillagers seek alternatives to ecologically insensitive grid-centric electrical, water, wastewater treatment, transportation, and other basic infrastructure systems, as well as the larger social systems which mirror and support these.

Many see the breakdown of traditional forms of community, wasteful consumer focused lifestyles, the destruction of natural habitat, urban sprawl, factory farming, and over-reliance on fossil fuels which are being changed to avert ecological disaster while creating richer and more fulfilling ways of life.  EcoVillages offer small-scale communities with minimal ecological impact or regenerative impacts as an alternative.
