The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization established in 1928. It has 36,000 individual members and 75 affiliated Member Associations representing water quality professionals around the world. The members include scientists, engineers, regulators, academics, utility managers, plant operators, and other professionals.

Schlenz Public Education Award

The Water Environment Federation annually gives awards to individuals and organizations to praise excellence and achievement in the water environment profession. There are five categories: Individual Service and Contribution, Education, Organization and Association Recognition, Operational and Design Excellence, and Published Papers. The EmeraldPlanet got Schlenz Public Education Award.
